Broken Hill Revisited

In my opinion, Broken Hill is the most beautiful spot in the Torrey Pines reserve. At this time of year, the sun rises in the southeast at a near perpendicular to the hill. At sunrise, the first beams of the morning light up the hillside, forming brilliant ripples of orange and black.
In late December I took an early morning trip to Broken Hill. The morning cloud cover made for a lovely sky, but suppressed the sunrise. I was pleased with the resulting shot, but not thrilled. I returned a couple of days later when the sky was clearer. I got "the show" I was after.
In landscape photography, persistence pays off.
