How is the course structured?
After an introductory video outlining the course, there are 5 images assessed and edited. Each case study has 2 videos, an image assessment video, and a post-processing video.
How much time is spent in image analysis versus post-processing?
It is about a 20/80 split. 20% of the course is artistic evaluation and discussion of the images and 80% in post-processing?
Why is there so much time spent in post-processing?
It simply takes longer to execute a vision than it does to plan a path to a vision. Also, the post-processing segments are unfiltered editing sessions. You take part in the raw artistic process, the experiments, and “what-ifs” tried during editing. These are all part of crafting a strong image.
Can I download the videos?
Yes, absolutely. Videos can be streamed directly from the source website or downloaded for offline viewing.
What digital tools are used in Story And Vision?
I use Lightroom in the processing segments of this course. However, the tools used are not as important as the reason for the edits to express the photo of the story. The techniques in this course can also be done in other software packages like ON1 Photo RAW, Photoshop, and Luminar AI.
I don’t use Lightroom, is this course still useful to me?
Definitely. As noted above, the techniques to strengthen and accentuate the story of your photos do not depend on a particular tool. Also, practice images are included so you can edit the photos yourself with the tools that you prefer to use.
